Still Life

The innate needs of the human being come through in many different ways. Those who have a more refined, sensitive and exquisite nature, are more able to move away from a onbearable counsiousness and become alive, beyond the limits of their normal daily lives.

In the modern society the individual is too realistic and pragmatic, neither dreaming nor creating illusions, is destined to fall into a dangerous and deep depression. Perhaps, on a brighter side, human beings would really like to remove these stereotypes from their lives; and their innate knowledge create a world quite different from that in which they are currently living.

Alma is an articulate and sensitive woman, who loves nature, her pet animals and her home in the country. She adores the theatre, classical music and every form of artistic expression. In her artist's studio she has found the force to give her own expression to semi- realism with the taste and vivacity of life.

As an artist she uses whatever materials are accessible to her-paper, canvas, board or ceramic. The material is not the critical element. The idea and the creation is the most important foundation. It is the combination of the foundation and an articulate expression with form, connected to our daily surroundings that stimulate her to strive for perfection.

And in this way, transforming what it is, what it could be to combinate a casual reality with the bare truth, challenging the sensitive spectator with a magical drawing power to a determinate Universe.

The artist doesn't allow the froms to go down into a gulf of hypocritical dissimulation, where silence reigns and pseudo-peace, they reach out creating a fifth sence allowing the spectator to go further than what they see.

In her paintings the imagination continues to mist over reality: a natural feeling indicates that we should consider the images in some kind of analytic obsession that supports ite own vision.

Finaly reaching a presentation which continues with egual intensity a whole sphere, strongly perceptive and developing the correct focus to create an equal relationship on every point of the surface to gain a phenomenon, much more than a reality or a changing surrealism, like a stage that throws up things and objects, which spread into a globe of the World so we can admire the work of art in every geographical detail.

Each work could correspond to a fairytale: Alma gives the impression that she connects to a personal objectivity with the longing for security, never passing the limit of, and they all lived happily ever after.

Space and volume, figure and material, sign and object, history and nature, desire and fantasy each created to capture the essence of the truth. Thats the truth that the artist discovers and her personality immediately becomes mysterious - to investigate, to capture and win over a new dimension for her subject.

And maybe this is the sence which frightens the more pragmatic spectator: looking into a mirror which shows the hidden sight og them. The value of Alma's work is really in its relativity: in the eternal presence of harmony lives a metamorphosis of all those things of the world.

The artist looks to maintain this magical instability to realive, through the impulse of intuition and recall the secrets of the existence, as her own sphinx - blind to her own creations.

The world around her transforms her drive for perfection to be greedy, to allow an entire new prospective where the little ones become tall, and the voluminous could be slender. She examines every hidden aspect of nature and human work, looking to capture those flashes of inspiration that allow her to use the colours reflected in mind.

She imagines the fairy tales in her mind before she presents the art made of signs, forms and colours where the line assumes a natural rule. The world of Alma is something more than a summary of the substance of the reality, it could be represented as a kind of natural desire - a path for a new post - Eden - apocalyptical - where the times continue to be as a symbol. The bottle, a recurring element of her work, could symbolize just the universal measure, and the time passing, as though she herself is that measure passing through the next life phase.

A system of research and synthesis bound in the world of daybreak and twilights not contaminated by the cosmic voracity. Alma uses an absolute range of colours, the colours are deeply ethereal presented from the real infinitive transformed by imagination.

To enter into her colours one should go beyond - going to the other side of the mirror like Alice in Wonderland, everything is next and immediate, but the time itself...

To the excellent technical mastery, Alma adds an expressive intimacy; she feels free and unrestricted and travels ahead in her own way.
